This is a great at-a-glance device for casual indoor air monitoring, especially after renovations or for peace of mind around furniture or paint. It's not a professional-grade tool, but for the price and simplicity, it does its job well.It arrived securely packaged, with the manual and USB-C cable included, and the display was protected with plastic film. Out of the box, it felt well-built — not hollow or cheap — and the buttons are responsive. The single top button toggles the display, while +/- on the back adjust settings easily.Setup was effortless — I charged it once, and over a month later, the battery is still full. That’s impressive. The LED display is bright and easy to read, and the unit cycles through formaldehyde concentration (HCHO), temperature, humidity, and time.It seems reasonably accurate. The temperature matches my other thermometer, and the HCHO reading reacted when placed near a freshly painted surface. The formaldehyde detector came with a short white charging cable and a manual. I didn't have to do any setup to begin measuring. I only had to pull out a tab in the battery compartment and remove the insulation film on top of the sensor. It has a rechargeable battery I can replace when it stops working. The monitor uses a 3.7 V 2200 mAh battery.I had to set the time though. I pressed the power button repeatedly until I was in time display mode. Then I long-pressed the power button until the hour digits flashed. I could adjust the hour with the plus and minus buttons on the back of the monitor. To set the hour, I pressed once the power button. I repeated the same procedure for the minutes. The time is displayed in 24-hour format only.With the power button, I can toggle between time, temperature, humidity, and formaldehyde display mode. So it also works as a thermometer and hygrometer.I leave the detector on my desk. I watch the screen during the first few minutes and it shows the self-test process before switching to the formaldehyde reading.The green indicator light stays on during the day. The screen brightness changes automatically after eight minutes and I press the power button again to bring it back to full brightness.Speaking of indicator light, it uses a color-coded system to show different detection levels. A green light means the detection value is between 0 and 0.08 mg/cubic meter, indicating a safe or low level - the air quality is healthy. When the light turns orange, the value ranges from 0.08 to 0.10 mg/cubic meter, signaling a cautionary or moderate level that may need attention. If the light appears red, the detection value exceeds 0.10 mg/cubic meter, representing a dangerous level that requires immediate action. These colors follow standard traffic-light conventions for easy recognition. So it's very easy to follow and use.I charge the device using the included USB cable and it lasts several days on a full battery. I take it to different rooms and the readings shift slightly depending on where I place it. The manual says to close windows for twelve hours before testing.According to the manual, the temperature and humidity values update every minute. I can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit by pressing the plus button on the back. The size of the unit is about 3 1/2 inches wide, 1 1/2 inches deep and 3 inches tall.

The HF1 is very easy to setup. The first step is pulling the plastic tab out to enable the pre-installed 18650 battery to make contact and turn on. This can be done without even opening the battery compartment lid. After that, quick press the Power Icon button on top of the device one time to cycle to the Clock display when the orange round click icon shows up. The cycling order of the display is from HCHO (1st mode Formaldehyde), to orange clock icon (2nd mode 24 hr Clock), to red thermometer icon (3rd mode temperature default in °C switchable to °F), to blue water droplet icon (4th mode humidity), and repeats from 1st mode. Once clock mode is reached, hold down the the Power button for 3 secs, for the hour digit to blink. Use the + and - button in the back to set the hour. Afterwards, quick pressing the Power button will cause the Minutes digits to blind. Again, use the + and - buttons in the back to adjust the time. To convert the temperature from °C to °F, quick press the Power button until it display the temperature then quick press the + button in the back to toggle from °C or °F. All the setup, device functions, modes, usage, and other information is well documented in the detailed manual. This device will run up to 12 days on the replaceable and rechargeable 18650 battery. If it's plugged in to 5V power supply using the a charge cable, it will stay on powered on indefinitely. And if the power goes out, it can run for 12 days on the included 18650 battery. An unmentioned feature of this product is that it can run on the charge cable even without the battery installed. This product is very easy to see from across the room with the large display, and simple to use. This product looks very well made with excellent materials, design, and documentation. It's well worth the cost for it's functionality and durability. I would recommend this product happily.

In the research which led up to choosing this product, I was surprised to learn about the many sources of Formaldehyde that surround us in our daily lives. Furniture, bed linen, and even air freshener are all points of origin that can introduce Formaldehyde into our environment.Before, I had no idea. Now I know.That's why I was happy to test the ATuMan Formaldehyde Detector to see if it would detect this unwanted chemical in our home or office, and I wasn't disappointed. The unit is small and lightweight, and didn't take long to charge. It also didn't take long to detect the chemical once I turned it on. It was speedy at what it did, and very informative.One thing I'd like to see in a future version is a brighter and more persistent screen. My CO2 detectors have screens which are always on and don't need to be awakened as this one does. Right now, as I look at it, the screen is almost black. If I want to see the readout, I have to go over an awaken it. I wish I didn't have to. But despite that, I', pleased to have this handy little device around which helps me find and remove Formaldehyde producing products from my home and office. Everyone should have one of these.

It picked up elevated levels in one room that had a new rug, so we were able to increase ventilation and let it air out properly. I never would have known otherwise.What I also love is the color-coded indicator bar below the number display, it gives you a quick visual of whether things are in a safe range or not without having to decode anything technical.I’ve already recommended this to friends who are renovating or moving into newer homes. It’s not a cheap gadget, but the peace of mind it gives is absolutely worth the price. If you care about indoor air quality, this is a solid investment.
